Morgan and Nikolas

About The Southern Social TX - Wedding magazine for Texas brides

Nikolas and I met during my junior year and Nikolas' senior year of college at TheUniversity of Iowa. At the time, I was a waitress at one of Iowa City's well-known bars, where we met for the "first" time. I noticed Nik every time he came in with his friends and would strike up conversations with him. Over a six-month period, I fell hard for Nik but knew he would be relocating to Dallas after his graduation. Graduation came and went, and it was time for him to move on to his next chapter. I dropped Nik off at the airport, knowing that might be the last time I saw him. We talked on and off over the next few weeks, and in his absence, I knew there was something so special about him (I often hoped he would be my future husband). Nikolas flew me out to Dallas, and I spent a long weekend with him before going to San Sebastian, Spain, for a month to studySpanish. The day I came back from that weekend trip, I booked another trip to fly back to Dallas a few days after returning home from Spain. On that second trip to Dallas, we officially started dating; over the next year, we were long-distance and flew back and forth between Iowa City, Chicago, and Dallas. Following my graduation, I relocated to Dallas, and we officially began our life together. Fast-forwarding several years of our relationship to April of 2019, Nik planned a trip for us to go to New Orleans. Upon arriving at the airport, Nik wandered off to what I thought was a "random gate."

Little did I know, we were never going to New Orleans; we were going to London! During this surprise trip, Nik planned the most beautiful engagement. He proposed in a garden hidden amongst the center of London. Nik and I share a mutual love of history, so what was so special about this garden is that it was an ancient church ruin left after the bombing of World War II. This devastating historical moment overgrew into such a beautiful and peaceful place. We've shared so many incredible moments over the last 5.5 years together. I couldn't be more grateful to have someone that allows me to be completely and fully myself and is truly my rock and biggest supporter.
